Do you believe that your habit of talking on the cell phone when driving the vehicle will not affect your concentration? If yes, then why don’t you carry out a small exercise? Why don’t you ask your family member to hold a tin can or any piece of plastic and throw the same in the path of your vehicle when you are traveling at 30 or 40 miles per hour on a deserted road?
The idea is to setup a sudden obstruction to your vehicle and to make sure that you are aware of the possibility. The next step is to drive the vehicle at the specified speed and use your cell phone. You will find that even if you are fully concentrating on the task of avoiding the obstruction to be thrown by your family member, you still find it difficult to control your vehicle with just one hand.
If you opt for hands free and drive with both your hands on the steering wheel, you will still find that the sudden obstruction, despite being foretold, distracts you and changes your concentration. You will discover that you tend to focus so much on the road in front that you completely ignore the cars behind you.
Hence, it is established beyond proof that using your cell phone when driving is dangerous. When you drive on the road and when you are not aware when an obstruction will occur, using your cell phone can be playing dangerous. In fact, you should not stop at the cell phone alone.
Make it a point to keep your hands away from all music players, car phones, radio and other such devices when you are driving the vehicle. Anything that causes you to take your eyes off the road or take your hands of the steering wheel is a big no. You must understand that an automobile accident has the potential of killing the other person.
